If you work in Şişli or occasionally come to the neighborhood, there is this cozy restaurant for which you can avoid any other alternatives in the vicinity: “Hamarat Ev Yemekleri”, where all the work is done only by “skillful” ladies, from the cooking to business management… This restaurant located in a two-storey building in Şişli is almost overflowing with customers at lunchtimes. Anyone finding out the magical touch of ladies on the meals becomes a regular of the restaurant. Any dish on the menu ensures you have the homemade taste of your mother’s meals… What you should not miss are particularly rice with anchovies, dried stuffed-eggplant, and meatballs with lemon sauce. And, of course, there is Kömbe to recommend. These ladies pack the sautéed meat with a thin sheet of dough to cook it in the oven! Definitely taste this special meal served hot in steam if it is offered on the daily menu. Only maize oil or sunflower seed oil is used in the meals. As the chefs do not prefer to use margarine in pan-cooked meals, all dishes have an utmost lightness and a delicious taste. Hamarat Ev Yemekleri is opened everyday at 7 am. Scrambled eggs, soups and breakfast are offered in the morning. The lunch is then served from 12 pm to 2 pm. The restaurant is open until 5.30 pm. Although they do not serve dinner, if you need a snack in the afternoon, you may well taste the home-style cookies cooked specifically for your tea time. You can purchase the cookies either by piece or by weight. Village-style cookies are especially delicious. The place serves 15 sorts of hot meals and 25 sorts of cold olive-oil dishes everyday. The prices are affordable as well. Hot dishes served with rice vary from 7 to 9 TL, or 5 to 7 TL if ordered as a single piece. You can also have chef’s dish of five selected olive-oil meals for 8 TL. Do not forget to have a taste of the crème brûlée served on small jam cups.
